Circular walk from Ventnor
via Shanklin and Wroxall

Start from the bandstand at Ventnor seafront and head east, through the car park, then along the promenade to Bonchurch. Continue along the water's edge past the harbour then, on reaching the shingle banks, take the path that starts to lead up the cliff, then join the beginning of the gravel track where the Coastal Path also merges. Follow the track as it leads into scrubland for a short way to reach a swing gate.

The path works it's way up through The Landslip, with steps and boardwalks in places, keeping to the Coastal Path as signposted. Once over the crest, start to descend along the Victorian footpath enclosed by stone walls to reach a swing gate near some houses. Continue ahead along the driveway that leads from Rosecliff Lodge then keep ahead and downward. Where the track bears left by some bollards, keep ahead on the path signposted towards Luccombe and Shanklin. The paths ascends and at the summit comes out onto the end of a road.

Follow the road which is Luccombe Lane, and whilst descending, pick up a view of Shanklin down below. At the junction by Rystone Gardens, cross over and go down Chine Hollow then at the end turn right into Shanklin High Street then immediately right again into Chine Avenue. Near the bottom it becomes Chine Road at the end of which take the zig-zag path down to the shoreline.

Walk northwards along the esplanade then at the end take Hope Road Approach upwards then continue along Hope Road to the traffic lights. Cross over and follow Atherley Road then enter the railway station forecourt.

Pass to the left of the station and descend some steps to Languard Road. Cross the road and follow Sunshine Trail adjacent to the entrance to Lower Hyde Holiday Park on the embankment of the former railway line. Having passed the reception area of the holiday park, remain on the former railway line to eventually reach the site of Wroxall railway station just past the point where the Sunshine Trail turns off.

Follow the path around the edge of the station site and at the bridge, turn right along Castle Road. Turn left along Wroxall High Street then right into West Street. Bear left at the entrance to Appuldurcombe House House where the road becomes Rew Lane and follow it to the end. Continue ahead on Newport Road, passing Rew Valley Sports Centre.

Turn left down Old Chute then, at the bottom, left again along Ocean View Road. Continue ahead where the road becomes Mitchell Road then, opposite the entrance to the industrial estate, turn right down Grove Road. Near the bottom, turn right down Tulse Hill, then right again down the last bit of Marlborough Road to reach Ventnor High Street. Turn left, then immediately right by the traffic lights along Pier Road, finally descending Shore Hill to the bandstand at Ventnor seafront.
