Weather : Heavy frost. Sunny but cold
Progress : Turned in the top dressing to the remaining half of plot 2c. Put a net over the Cabbage plants after the pigeons had ravaged them - should have done this yesterday. Weeded through the Asparagus then dressed them with the rotted dung that I had got from ny nephews sisters paddock. The absent allotmenteer who had taken over part of an adjoining allotment was on site today for only the second time in six months. He had a bonfire going which I advised him may cause a reaction as it was drifting onto nearby houses.

Progress : No work today. Passed another allotmenteer on the way back from town and he told me that his wife was angry at the bonfire smoke yesterday. I told him about the chap who had lit the fire and how I had warned him about the smoke going over the houses.

Progress : No work today. Called in at the Seed Merchant this morning to get the balance of my Potatoes but they were out of stock.

Progress : No work today. Whilst tidying up the shed I found another box of my stored Picasso Potatoes which was a nice surprise as I thought we had just useed the last of them.

Progress : No work today. Went to a Garden Centre that I know sells loose Seed Potatoes but they did not have the varieties in stock that I wanted. However, back at home, when I checked my computer I had an email from Thompson & Morgan offering free delivery on goods ordered today. I found the variety of Potatoes that I wanted, and in the required quantities, so I ordered them.

Progress : Called in to dig a couple of Parsnips to make soup. Also dug some Carrots for the same purpose. Brought the kitchen waste for the compost.

Weather : Sunny spells followed by rain
Progress : Turned in the top dressing on half of plot 2a then planted two rows of First Early Potatoes (Accord). Sowed two rows of Broad Bean (Jubilee Hysor) in plot 2c. Noticed that someone has started to take water from my tank on plot 1 so I tied the barrier over the top as last year.

Progress : No work today. Eat the last of our stored Potatoes - these were Picasso and were very good.

Progress : Planted two rows of Shallot (Golden Gourmet) in plot 2c. Turned in the top dressing on part of plot 2d, trod the ground down and sowed a row of Cabbage (Greyhound). Dug a bucketful of Parsnips and salsify.

Weather : Frost. Fair start turning to rain
Progress : I wanted to sow some more seeds today but found that I needed to clear the areas of items that I have left over the winter. The temporary compost enclosure is in the way but I have to empty the permanet enclosure first. I also need to eelocate the pallets and new coldframe. Weeded half of plot 1. Cleared the remainder of the compost from the enclosure in area 1 and spread it over part of plot 1. Dug some soil from the bank to make up the level under the compost enclosure. Dug the last of the Parsnips. Last years Parsley is starting to sprout again so it is not now so urgent to sow the fresh seed.

Weather : Sunny but a wet end to the day
Progress : Delivered some bags of fresh horse dung and the kitchen compost. Turned in the top dressing to part of plot 2a for more Potatoes but found there was not enough room for the required three rows. Weeded part of plot 3a then spread horse dung ready to dig in for the Potatoes. Dug up and composted the last row of Carrots from plot 3a as they had been in the ground too long to be fit to eat.

Progress : Re-arranged the equipment in utility area 1 so that the water tank has more protection from those pinching the water. Got wet due to some heavy showers.

Progress : Turned in the top dresing on part of plot 3a then planted three rows of Potatoe (Foremost). Dug over part of plot 3b and sowed a row of Parsnip (Gladiator). Put some more water into the tank which I moved yesterday including some water out of another tub in the hope of bringing in some water insects.
