Progress : Went out in the wet to get Cabbage and Carrots.
The Cabbage is very tender when eaten.
Weather : Sunny spells
Progress : Met our son and his family on site today to enable our
grandson to cut the first Pumpkin. He then brought round to our house in his
trolley together with some Sweetcorn and a Courgette for his parents. Whilst on
the allotment he helped me dig some Potatoes, Carrots and Leeks.
Weather : Wet morning.
Progress : Cut a superb Cabbage (Winnigstad) for dinner. Picked the
last of the Runner and French Beans.
Weather : Sunny and warm
Progress : Took the last load of spoil for the centre path of plots
3. Took down the netting from the Blueberried. Dug the remainder of the Wilja
Potatoes, all of which have some degree of worm and slug holes. Weeded part of
plot 1.
Weather : Wet morning.
Progress : Cut back superflous foliage on the Artichokes and Chard
for composting.
Weather : Sunny
Progress :
Delivered some bags of fresh horse dung. Did a bit more clearance of foliage.
Picked a range of vegetables. A few of the Sweetcorn are either going over or
unhealthy.
Weather : Sunny start then overcast
Progress : No work today.
Weather : Dull start then sunny
Progress : Walked down in the late afternoon for some general
vegetables. Found another Pumpkin which I cut and brought home. Also cut the
first Cauliflower.
Weather : Dull all day
Progress : Cut down the old growth from the Loganberries. Found some
tender Cabbage for dinner tonight. Cut some Parsley for freezing. Had a brief
chat with a new allotment holder.

: Cut some Calibrese. Picked the remaining dozen Sweetcorn but half of them
had gone over already.

: Took my mower to site and had most of the grass cut when it seized up,
having overheated cutting long wet grass. Started building up the centre path
between plots 1 and 2 with spoil I had brought from home.

: Took a barrowload of spoil. Hand cut some more grass on the back path. Dug
some Leeks.
Weather : Overcast and cold
Progress : Took a barrowload of spoil. Hand cut some more grass on
the path.
Weather : Overcast with cold wind
Progress : Hand cut the remainder of the grass on the path. Cropped
some Cucumbers, Peppers, Leeks and a Cabbage.

Progress : Dumped a barrowlaod of spoil and cut one Courgette.

Progress : Took a barrowload of spoil. Did some weeding. Dug the
remainder of the Picasso Potatoes - crop about a third of last year. Picked the
remaining Courgettes and Peppers as another frost is forecast for this evening.

Progress : Took a barrowload of spoil. Picked off all the French
Beans to dry for Haricots then cut up and composted the old vines. Cut up and
composted some of the Sweetcorn stems. Cut some nice Calabrese. Much of the
tender foliage of the Squashkins etc have caught the frost.
Weather : Frost. Sunny start and
warmer. Light rain later
Progress : Took another barrowload of spoil.
Did a bit of weeding in plot 1. Collected the few Squashkins which may ripen
then started composting the foliage as it has now been well bitten by the frost.
Cut up some more Sweetcorn stems.
Weather : Frost.

: Called in during the morning and delivered some bags of fresh horse dung
then collected veg for our daughter-in-law. Went back later with a barrowload of
spoil. Composted some more foliage. Gathered some veg for dinner.
Weather : Heavy frost. Sunny spells
Progress : Took a barrowload of spoil. Topped up the compost
enclosure in area 1. Did some weeding. Erected the compost enclosure in area 2,
lined it with plastic sacks then started to fill it. Cleared more of the
Nasturtiums that had been lost to the frost.
Weather : Sunny spells.
Progress : Took grandson to the allotment where he helped me dig a
row of Potatoes (Cara) then some Carrots and cut some Calabrese. The potatoes
produced very poor quantities.

Progress : Completed the weeding of plot 2. Composted the remainder
of the Nasturiums.
Weather : Sunny spells. Mild
Progress : Delivered some fresh horse manure. Cut and composted the
stray branches of the Jerusalem Artichokes. Cut and composted the last of the
Sweetcorn stems. Found one last Sweetcorn fruit which was quite edible. Finished
weeding plot 1.
Weather : Dark day. Breezy but mild.
Rain later
Progress : Started to cut down and compost the climbing
bean stems. Cut and composted the remainder of the bolted Spinach from plot 3.
Weather : Sunny sells and showers
Progress : Cleared the remainder of the first rows of Runner Bean
stems and composted them then took down the sticks for storage.

Progress :
Gathered veg for a family dinner. Dug the first Parsnip which was a good size. I find that my diary has become cumbersome and not necessarily useful so I am abandoning it now and will restart in a different format next January.
