Progress : Called in with my grandson on the way back from the shops. Dug the first of the Nantes Early 2 Carrots from plot 3a. Dug a couple of Leeks and picked some Parsley for a fish dinner.
Weather : Hard frost. Sunny day
Progress : Went for some veg for our early Christmas dinner tomorrow. Cut two stems of Sprouts. Managed to lift some very large Nantes early Carrots but could not shift the Parsnips. After getting home I thought there must be a way to get some Parsnips so I went back with a spade. The surface of the ground was like concrete and the spade was useless but I managed to chip away with the prong of a fork then lift some of the smaller Parsnips.

Progress : Went to the allotment to get veg for the next couple of days. The whole area is covered with about 1 cm of ice, not a flat sheet but following the contours of the ground. Got some Winter Cabbages, Swedes and Carrots.

Progress : No work today
Weather : Overnight rain. Sunny
Progress : Pulled some Carrots and cut some Calibrese. On plot 3d I removed all but one of the Calibrese plants, ran the cultivator over the ground and spread fresh horse dung, leaving only the small area that has some Beetroot remaining.
Weather : Sunny
Progress : Cleared the old Spinach plants from plot 2d, ran the cultivator over and spread fresh horse dung thus completing that plot to over-winter. Cleared plot 2c of spent plants, weeds and stones. The ground is still frozen in places. Cut down and composted some Sweetcorn stems and Artichoke stems.
